UDI025 Remote Control Boat: Complete Beginner’s Operation Guide
If you’ve just unboxed your new UDIRC UDI025 brushless speed boat and are ready to hit the water, this step-by-step guide will walk you through every basic operation, from battery installation to using all the remote control functions. Designed specifically for first-time RC boat owners, this tutorial covers everything you need to know to launch safely and enjoy your first run.
1. Pre-Launch Setup: Battery Installation & Automatic Pairing
- Locate the battery compartment on the boat and open the waterproof cover.
- Insert the included lithium battery into the compartment, ensuring the connector is fully plugged in.
- Close the waterproof cover tightly to prevent water damage.
- Turn on the remote control by installing the required batteries (not included) and sliding the power switch to the "ON" position.
- The boat will automatically pair with the remote control within 2-3 seconds. You will hear a beep from the boat and see the indicator light on the remote stop flashing, confirming a successful connection.
2. Core Remote Control Functions
- Throttle Trigger: Located on the back of the remote. Squeeze the trigger forward to accelerate, and release it to slow down. Pull the trigger backward to reverse.
- Steering Wheel: Located on the front of the remote. Turn it left or right to control the boat’s direction. The boat responds quickly to steering inputs, so start with gentle turns until you get used to the handling.

3. Advanced Adjustment Knobs
- Throttle Travel Adjustment Knob: This knob controls the maximum speed of the boat. Turn it clockwise to increase the throttle limit for more power, or counterclockwise to decrease it. For beginners, we recommend starting with a lower throttle limit to avoid losing control at high speeds.
- Steering Trim Knob: Use this knob to correct any steering drift. If the boat pulls to one side when you’re not turning the steering wheel, turn the trim knob in the opposite direction until the boat travels straight.
- Steering Travel Adjustment Knob: This knob adjusts the maximum turning angle of the rudder. Turn it clockwise to make the turns sharper, or counterclockwise to make them more gradual. A smaller turning angle is better for high-speed straight runs, while a larger angle is useful for tight turns in small areas.
4. Special Function Switches
- Throttle Reverse Switch: Flip this switch to reverse the direction of the throttle trigger. This is useful if you prefer a different control layout.
- Steering Reverse Switch: Flip this switch to reverse the direction of the steering wheel. Adjust this if the boat turns in the opposite direction of what you expect.
- Navigation Light Switch: This switch controls the boat’s LED navigation lights. It has two modes: constant on and flashing. The lights improve visibility in low-light conditions and add a cool visual effect.
- Capsize Recovery Button: This is one of the most important features for beginners. If the boat flips over in the water, simply press this button, and the boat will automatically try to right itself. This prevents you from having to swim out to retrieve a capsized boat.

5. Safety Tips for First-Time Users
- Always test the boat in a calm, open body of water away from swimmers, boats, and obstacles.
- Never operate the boat in rain, thunderstorms, or strong winds.
- Keep an eye on the battery level. When the boat starts to slow down, bring it back to shore immediately to avoid losing power in the middle of the water.
- Rinse the boat with fresh water after each use, especially if you’ve been using it in salt water, to prevent corrosion.
